Barbarians drop season opener to powerful Minneapolis side

With a clinical victory in Minneapolis on Saturday, Metropolis RFC (Minneapolis, MN) made good their revenge for a Springtime at-home loss to the Milwaukee Barbarians

The Divison 1 match was very close after 30 mins with the hosts up just 12-6. But pair of tries on either side of the half-time whistle put the Milwaukee rugby side in a deep 24-6 deficit that they could not overcome.

Metro's offense continued to hammer the visitors in wet conditions and despite an injury-scare to the neck of their fly-half, the final score was 41-6 for the Minneapolis team.

“We aren't finishing in the end zone and came up short too many times." said Barbarians Head Coach Joe Gardener. "We’ll be working on that this week at training.“

The Barbarians are off this weekend, and return to action on September 10th for the season's home-opener. The Division 3 side will be facing Black & Blue RFC and Division 1 hosting Griffins RFC.
