The mission of Milwaukee-Area Old Rugby Individuals — or MAORIs — is to engage all interested rugby players in the greater-Milwaukee area . The name MAORI is an homage to the backup squad of New Zealand’s mighty All Blacks.
The MAORIs have a very relaxed schedule of events that typically includes non-contact or tag rugby every other week except in winter where they play indoors once a month.
In addition, events such as full-contact matches against other 35+ sides and mini-tours to regional rugby matches — such as international matches in Chicago — are organized on an ad hoc basis.
Regardless of the season, the MAORIs follow up each session with a few pints at the field (weather permitting) or at a local pub.
All ruggers over the age of 35 are welcome to MAORI events and there is no need to RSVP.
