Line-out success key to victory in Oconomowoc matchup.

In Division 3 action, the Barbarians improved their regular season record to 2-2-0 in a comprehensive performance today against the visiting Oconomowoc Griffins.

Although the match started off in a cautious fashion from both teams, the Barbarians soon took control of the match.

Three line-out steals, and effective counter-attacks on turnover ball, gave the home side plenty of scoring opportunities. On 8 entries into the Oconomowoc 22-meter zone, four tries and 3 conversions were scored.

Effective defense on the other end of the pitch by the hosts resulted in the Barbarians leading 26-0 at half-time.

The second half was a much closer affair.

Momentum for both teams was stifled on numerous occasions by a flood of penalties and knock-ons. But the line-out success enjoyed by the Barbaians in the first continued throughout the second.

Both sides scored one try each in the second half. At the final whistle, the Barbarians would claim victory with a final score of 33-5.

Congrats to Tommy Kosten on earning Man of the Match honors.

The next Division 3 fixture sees the Barbarians on the road to play Oshkosh on Saturday at 2PM.
