Barbarians close out Division 3 regular season with .500 record.

The Barbarians (3-2-0) played their final regular season match today against the visiting Green Bay Celtics (2-3-0).

A close start to the match

The first half was a close battle with neither team really being able to dominate. Physical and mostly error-free, possession ebbed and flowed throughout.

But at the half-time whistle, the Barbarians held a slim 7-5 lead after two goal-line stands in the closing minutes.

Green Bay clinical in second half

The second half was a different story with knock-ons plaguing the Barbarians attack, and Green Bay compounding the issue with 3 defensive turnovers.

As a result, the hosts played a lot of the half in their own end.

And Green Bay converted 4 of 6 entries into the red zone, scoring 4 tries to the Barbos 2.

At full-time, Green Bay would take the match 29-19 with both teams finishing the season with 3-3-0 records.

Man of the match

Congrats to Rob Lagerman on earning Man of the Match honors.

Season wrap-up

The Barbarians will not advance to the 2024-2025 post-season, but for a second year in a row finish even at 3-3-0.

“There’s a lot to be proud of,” said coach Jared Abt. “We traveled with depth and had competitive sides in every game, including multiple split away games. We’ve got a lot of young talent and potential, and I’m excited to see how this group improves next season.”
