Milwaukee rugby team delivers another national-calibre performance.

The Barbarians — the Milwaukee rugby team competing in USA Rugby Division 1 — today travelled to Lemont, IL to continue their campaign to the National Rugby Sevens Championship at the Firehouse 7s. 

Following up on their third-place finish at the Minnesota Sevens — the first of five National Qualifier events (see below) — the Barbarians again showed consistency and enthusiasm in the early rounds. 

After 3 matches, the Barbarians were seeded 2nd going into the Playoff Rounds with a 3-0-0 record, 13 tries and PF/PA rating of +65. 

They defeated the Chicago Griffins 24-12 to advance to the finals, losing to the Chicago Lions 26-12 in the championship match.

Milwaukee rugby team tied for 2nd place

After two weeks of play, the Milwaukee Barbarians are now tied for second place with 1823 (Columbus, OH) in the Midwest Qualifier standings.

Vic has a long history in and around the sport of rugby both in Canada and the US. He has played for and started numerous clubs (Vandal's RFC, Strathcona Druids, Suffolk Bull Moose, Westside Harlequins, Milwaukee Barbarians, Hamilton Girls Rugby), and served many roles over the years at all administrative levels. Vic joined the Harlequins in 2007 and remained an active club member through the transition to the Barbarians. These days, he spends his rugby time playing tag rugby and touring with the Old Boys, keeping the club website updated, helping organize the Lakefront 7s, and fundraising.
