Early 31-0 lead for the Barbarians too much for visiting Palmer.

In cold and wet conditions, the Milwaukee Barbarians executed an impressive 51-19 drubbing of the visiting Palmer Dragons (Davenport, IA) on Saturday.

The bonus-point win extends their winning record to 4-1-0 for the season and gives them a good grasp of second place in the Men’s Midwest Division 1 championship with 18 points.

The Barbarians came out of the gates hard with early tries by Kloiber, Walzak, Smith, and Olsen who crossed the whitewash twice.

After 25 minutes, the hosts were up 31-0 and it looked as if a rout was imminent.

But in the last 15 minutes of the first half, the Barbarians appeared to take their foot off the gas, allowing 3 tries to narrow the score at halftime to 31-19.

The second half saw the hosts return to ruthless efficiency both on attack and in defense.

The Milwaukee rugby team proceeded to score up 3 unanswered tries — by Zack Albert, Wagner and Vigder — as well as a penalty (Vigder) to end the day with at 51-19.
