The Milwaukee Barbarians travelled today to Waverly, IA in a Round 1 playoff against Ilinois rivals, the Fox Valley Maoris.
With just 2 reserves and wet and cool conditions, the Milwaukee Rugby team faced an opponent who has dominated the Wisconsin-Chicago conference all season.
The first quarter of the match was a close contest with the Maoris in the lead 13-7. But the Barbarians defense could not hold and by half time the Maoris were out to a comfortable 35-7 lead.
The Maoris continued their offensive clinic in the second half, aided by a concussed Barbarian fly-half and a red card at the 59th minute.
At the final whistle, Fox Valley would be the clear victors. The 66-7 victory sets up round 2 of the Midwest RFU Western Conference playoffs tomorrow where the Maoris meet a rested Bremer County Bucks who received a 1st round bye.
