7s coach turns his attention to the 15s forward pack.

The Milwaukee Barbarians are proud to officially welcome Ryan Duklas to the coaching team.

Coach Duklas began his playing career a Muskego High School in 2002 before moving on to the collegiate program at UW Whitewater (2003-2008). During that time he spent numerous seasons on the Wisconsin and Midwest Collegiate Select Sides and captained each in 2008.

The highlight of his senior year was being selected as one of USA Rugby’s Collegiate All-Americans who toured New Zealand in 2008.

Coach Duklas did his post-graduate training at the Palmer College of Chiropractic and played for their Division 1 side from 2009 through 2013. This was a successful time for Palmer Rugby and the team reached the final four of the National Club Championships three years in a row (2010-2012).

In addition to rugby fifteens, Coach Duklas has a lot of experience with rugby sevens. His sevens career was played primarily between 2007 and 2014 and include an impressive set of accomplishments:

  • Two appearances at USA Rugby’s National Club Championship
  • Selections to the Midwest 7’s All-star team
  • Invitation to the Collegaite All-American 7’s tryouts
  • Invitation to the USA Eagles 7’s tryouts

Coach Duklas completed his playing career with the Milwaukee Barbarioans in the Fall of 2013. Since then, he has been coaching the Barbarians lineouts in an ad-hoc manner and in 2017 officially took the reins of the sevens program

With today’s announcement, Duklas now expands his reach officially as forwards coach of the fifteens program.

“I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some of the most distinguished coaches in the game,” said Duklas. “I’m looking forward to combining that knowledge with my previous high level playing experience to help develop the Barbarians forwards.”
