The 2024 Fall schedule is now available (see below) with the first matches on 8/24. Official practices begin on 8/8 and all of our new recruits are invited to attend.
Another exciting date is 9/7 where we have a triple-header versus Wisconsin at their sports complex in Cottage Grove:
3PM – Old Boys
5PM – Division 3
7PM – Division 2 (under the lights!)
Lets make sure we bring a huge crew to Cottage Grove to support our boys!
Competition shakeup
Division 2
The Midwest RFU has made some changes to our competition structure this year. Division 2 will now be split into 3 leagues featuring seven 7 teams, each playing one another once for a total of 6 league matches.
In our Western League, the regular season will now see new teams like Metropolis (Minneapolis, MN), Eastside Banshees (Minneapolis, MN), Des Moines (IA) and Wisconsin (Cottage Grove, WI) as well as traditional opponents like Milwaukee RFC and Green Bay.
The Lions (Chicago, IL) and Māori (St. Charles, IL) no longer compete in the Western League and have been assigned to the Central League.
Division 3
The teams in the Division 3 Wisconsin League are unchanged from last season.
As such, we have 6 matches against Gargoyles(Greenville), Wisconsin (Cottage Grove), Black & Blue (Milwaukee), Griffins (Oconomowoc), Mighty Pigs (Oshkosh) and Celtics (Green Bay).
Old Boys
Our 35+ alumni or “Old Boys” don’t typically schedule matches, but this year is a bit different with a fixture vs. Wisconsin (Cottage Grove) on the books for 9/7.
As noted above, this match is the curtain-raiser for the D2 and D3 matches later that day at the gorgeous Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex.
Old Boy matches feature rolling substitutions and a causal atmosphere. If you’re alumni, drop us a note if you’d like to play!
Vic has a long history in and around the sport of rugby both in Canada and the US. He has played for and started numerous clubs (Vandal's RFC, Strathcona Druids, Suffolk Bull Moose, Westside Harlequins, Milwaukee Barbarians, Hamilton Girls Rugby), and served many roles over the years at all administrative levels. Vic joined the Harlequins in 2007 and remained an active club member through the transition to the Barbarians. These days, he spends his rugby time playing tag rugby and touring with the Old Boys, keeping the club website updated, helping organize the Lakefront 7s, and fundraising.
