Defense highlighted in the Barbarians 39-24 exhibition loss to Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Barbarians kicked off the spring leg of the 2014-2015 season with the First XV — the club’s Division 1 side — playing an exhibition match in Madison, WI vs. the Wisconsin Rugby Club.

In contrast to the Division 3 exhibition matches earlier in the day, the first XV was missing 6 starters for the fixture and struggled on defense early, giving a large margin to Wisconsin.

The Barbarians managed to score 24 points before the final whistle, but it was not enough to overcome the lead of the hosts who finished the day with 39.

The next match for the 6-3-0 Barbarians is the Spring league opener on April 11th on the road against the Chicago Griffins who sit at 2-7-0.
