Barbarians claim two bonus points despite loss to Columbus.

The Barbarians hosted CRC (Columbus, OH) today at Zablocki Park and from the outset, it was clear that this encounter would be different from the previous two meetings of these teams where Milwaukee came away victorious.

After just 21 minutes, the visitors held a comfortable 21-3 lead.

The Barbarians then finally kicked into action on defense. After long periods of possession, they went over the chalk twice before the half-time whistle to narrow the margin 21-13.

The CRC scored about 10 minutes into the second half, but were held scoreless for the rest of the match. Two additional tries by Milwaukee brought the home team within reach.

But some ill discipline cost the Barbarians possession just outside the CRC red zone at the 80th minute, allowing the visitors to close out the match.

Final score 28-25.

Despite the loss, the Barbarians didn’t end the day empty-handed. They received 1 bonus point for scoring 4-tries and another for the narrow scoreline and with that hold onto second place in the week 3 divisional standings.
