New home pitch opens at Brown Deer Park.

The Milwaukee Barbarians have reached a long-term agreement with Milwaukee County Parks to play 15-a-side at Brown Deer Park.

Equipment and goal posts are currently being moved to Brown Deer Park and — effective immediately — all home matches for the 15s program will be played there.

Brown Deer Park is located at 7835 N Green Bay Ave in Milwaukee but the pitch, shown above, is located in the north-west corner of the park near the intersection of W Bradley Road and N 37th St.

The pitch is perfecly graded, has excellent drainage, and very little use which keeps the grass healthy and the surface much softer than busier parks like Zablocki.

“When we first engaged with the Milwaukee County Parks regarding a long term home for the Barbarians, the Brown Deer facilities were one of our top preferred locations,” said Patrick Sharpe, Director of Rugby for the Barbarians.

“Unfortunately at that time it was unavailable. Towards the end of our first multi-year agreement at Zablocki we reviewed alternatives and Brown Deer was suggested by the County Parks. We jumped on the chance to move to a better facility and continue our great partnership with Milwaukee County Parks.”
